Boron Carbide

Boron Carbide

Due to its extremely hard surface, boron carbide powder and paste from Varun Udyog can be used for a variety of abrasive and lapping purposes.

This powder and paste are suitable for a large variety of materials ranging from plastics, nonferrous metals, and steel to metallic carbides and titanium. Boron carbide is a super hard abrasive material, next only to diamond and cubic boron nitride in hardness.

Boron Carbide simply outclasses conventional abrasives like aluminum oxide and silicon carbide with its performance and cost-effectiveness.

Benefits in working with boron carbide powder/paste

Reduce in operating time due to fast, efficient cutting. High quality surface due to closely sized grains resistant to temperature up to 350c because of the binders used. The consistency of oil soluble Carbolax paste is retained when applied to hot work pieces, i.e. the paste does not run off or spread out consequently, a uniform polish is obtained even at high temperature.

Grit Sizes

Grit sizes are available for a wide range of application, from coarse grinding to precision lapping, Carbolax powder/paste can be used with, wood or steel pins.

Quality

Grit Sizes

Very Coarse 80-120
Coarse 150-220
Medium 250-300
Medium Fine 280-350
Fine 360-400
Super Fine 500-700
Extra Fine 800-1200
Ultra Fine 1300-1500

Fields of Application

Reasonable lapping and polishing of precision components of any type and material are ensured with a high stock removal rate and superior surface quality. The surface can be coarsely ground with grit 250 and then finished with grit 400 to achieve a surface smoothness of less than 1.5um in practice.
