Varun Udyog’s lapping chemicals and slurry are made from only the finest quality uniformly graded diamond powders. These powders undergo a unique grading process to ensure that only particles with a good crystalline shape are included. These particles are uniform in size and have a solid, cubelike shape with clean, well-defined edges.
Diamond fragments are microscopically measured using the diameter of a circle covering the same area as the fragments themselves, as seen via a microscope.
Base Material
Water Soluble:
In either water or diethylene glycol, the water-soluble form is completely soluble. 50 %mixture of each is a very good thinner. It must be done with extreme care to have the right amount of thinner to spread the compound. The compound is prone to “Fly-off” the action while it is rotating at a fast speed if it is overly thinned.
Oil Soluble:
The soluble oil variant is a unique system with a low molecular weight and heat resistance. Use Varun Udyog’s Oil Soluble fluid to avail widespread masking and related benefits and advantages.
Colour Code
The paste color indicates its diamond grain length and quality. The paste’s see-through syringes also help. The brochure lists the colors and quality levels.
Lapping Sequence
When the conventional abrasive powder is discontinued in the range of 250/300 Mesh, then lapped with diamond paste should start with Varun Udyog’s V50 grade compounds, proceed to V20, and then go on to V10. But, A third excessive end should be preferred, followed by V3 as the last sharpening stage. V30 grade, followed by V10 and V3. For super finishes use of V1 as the last recommended step.
If the conventional abrasive powder is discontinued between 400 and 600 Mesh, then lapping should begin with Varun Udyog’s V30 grade, followed by V10 and V3. For super finishes, V1 is used as the final recommended step.
Importance of The Correct Selection Of Laps
Keep in mind: The harder the lap, the faster the stock removal, and coarser the finish. Oppositely, the softer the lap, the slower cutting, and the higher finishing.
Materials For Laps
Soft Iron, and Cold Roll Steel- For roughing operation
Copper, Aluminium, and Hardwood- For medium cutting, pre-polishing & super finish
General Usage Hints
It is crucial to emphasize that in many situations, applying two or three grades of Varun Udyog lapping compounds is necessary. This is the case in situations where the starting surface and finally derived surface are noticeably distinct. At first, use only enough thinner to distribute the paste across the working surface, and then, in consecutive applications, add as much thinner as is necessary to keep the lubrication.
Correct Choice of Compound Concentration
- When working with chrome plates, hardened steel, and moderate metal, use a standard concentration of the Varun Udyog compounds
- You should use a high concentration when working with tungsten carbide and other tough materials
A Rule of Thumb for Compound Selection
High compound concentrations should be used on substances with a Rockwell hardness of 50 or higher, while lower concentrations should be used for materials with a Rockwell hardness of 50 or less.
Hints for Lapping
- A clean device and area are of the utmost importance for producing a high-quality finish
- Before moving from a coarse compound grade to an acceptable grade, it is essential to properly and completely clear the surface.
- There must be absolutely no inter-modification of laps between the various grades. Use a different set of laps for each grade of the compound.
- Subsequent operations for finishing with unique grades should always cross-cut the sprucing lines that came before them.
- Use bendy shaft cutters at medium speeds (2000–4000 RPM) under mild stress for high finishing. Excessive speeds cause the end to be pitted and burnished.
- Be careful when using Varun Udyog compound. Excessive amounts no longer boost effectiveness. If dry motion occurs, apply VARUN UDYOG fluid in aerosol spray to potentially speed up the compound’s ability to slice.
Fluid In Aerosol
Benefits of using Fluid Aerosol
- In addition to removing metallic sludge produced during lapping, the lubricating motion of the tool can also help break steel to the metallic binding
- Quickly penetrates, releasing the components that make diamonds so effective in cutting
- Safe, non-corrosive, prevents cross-contamination
Diamond Slurry, Oil, Water & Universally Soluble Base
Diamond slurry manufactured at Varun Udyog by blending high-quality diamond powdered in a liquid, whether aqueous or oily, where the finest diamond powder breaks up into single, lightly distributed, agglomerate-free particles.
Important applications where this agglomerate-free suspension is particularly useful include lapping computer hard disk RNV heads, video heads, and the flat lapping of tungsten and ceramics.
The diamond powder can be kept in suspension or dispersion for extended periods of time using slurry, which is readily available in oil, water, and other universally soluble bases. Varun Udyog slurries are specially formulated to ensure that 100% of the diamond particles are used throughout the polishing process.
Packing- Polyethylene bottles (100 gm/ 250 gm).
Concentrations of slurries can be adjusted to meet customer requirements.
